Huang Ping-xun, a Chinese medicine doctor at Miaoli County’s Da Chien General Hospital, said contrary to some beliefs, treatment of cancer using both Chinese and Western medicine concurrently is in fact effective.
Pointing to research that shows how Chinese medicine helps relieve the pain and discomfort from radiation therapy and chemotherapy, Huang said the combined effect of Chinese and Western medicine is attracting more and more hospitals to embrace such treatment. The two treatments are complementary and have resulted in more effective therapy and prognosis for cancer patients, he added.
